“I can’t wait until my friends see all of the cool toys they have!”
While you might give your child a “toy,” in the zoological community, animals are given “enrichments.” These provide both mental and physical stimulation by changing the environment, encouraging natural behaviors, and a variety of sensory experiences. For our cats, some examples are bags of spices, boxes, bubbles, and even pumpkins. Many common objects are recycled and reused – like industrial cable spools, bowling pins, and even bowling balls. Yes….apparently, big cats like to bowl! Right on, Sebastian!
